In
1999 Christy Cameron Smith and Paul Infiniti
began to create the soul searching sounds of LOTUS
with Smith on vocals and Infiniti on guitars, keyboards,
and electronics. While writing in the studio for nearly
2 1/2 years they were able to take advantage of the
rising popularity of promoting music on the internet.
Through music sites such as MP3.com they exploited the
first, self produced, LOTUS release Hold On which
went to #1 on the trip hop and down-tempo charts for
over two weeks followed by their second release AnotherDay.
Hold On was then chosen to be included on the listen
n.u.d.e.
(New Union of Dance and Electronic artists.) compilation
CD.
LOTUS, featured by The Woman of MP3.com- January 2001,
created a presence on the web with over 22,799 downloads
to date!
Smith
(vocals) & Infiniti (guitars, percussion)
started writing music together with the Chicago band
My Scarlet Life in 1995, along with Julie Axis-Schrieber
(Jute), Preston Klik (Pointy Teeth, Karma Sutra, Big
Hat) and Amy Spina. Making a name for itself, MSL generated
an audience throughout the midwest (USA), and released
four full length CDs during the interum. Releases include:
Trypnotica (Divanation
1997), Buzzbomb (Divanation
1998) Danse Amour
(Divanation 1998) and InfraRed
(Divanation 1999)
With
the release of their debut CD "FLOAT"
(IndieOnly Records), LOTUS is
busy working with new musicians for the live show
